I love all things Halloween. So of course, one of the art programs I created at my library was an October painting class. Drink & Draw: Halloween Acrylic Painting riffs on the popular paint nite events. I do it a little differently, though. I served seasonal local wine and soda at this session. This is a public library event, so it’s important to be able to encompass ALL skill levels. Seriously. Some people say this, but there are people who have never painted a day in their lives that may show up. (In fact, I had a previous attendee of another class who was so intimidated by painting that they even ditched elementary school art projects. They quite literally never painted before!) Because of this, I feel picking one project and telling people how to do it point by point can be disadvantageous for a group with varied skill levels. I had a demo that I painted, but also printed out some inspiration images for attendees to draw from. I provided everyone with various brushes, student grade acrylic paint, and 9×11″ canvases. Everyone had a great time! Below is a slideshow of what we created in the class.
